KL1550 - Programming & Operating Instructions

FEATURES

  • Multiple Functions & Access Methods
    • Public Function – Keypad and Smartcard options
    • Private Function – Keypad and Smartcard options
    • NetCode – Web generated codes as well as Smartcard option
  • Penalty Time
    • Entering 3 incorrect User Codes or 3 attempts at using unregistered User Smart Cards will cause the lock to restrict entry for 10 seconds.
  • Low Battery
    • Low battery power will be indicated by the red LED flashing 3 times before the blue LED flashes to indicate a correct User Code or Smart Card. The batteries should be replaced as soon as possible.
  • Battery Override
    • Should the batteries fail, the lock can be opened using the Master Code and a PP3 battery:
      • Place the +positive contact of the battery against the contact point surrounding the red LED and the -negative contact point of the battery against the contact point of the blue LED
      • Enter the Master Code
      • The lock will open
      • Replace the batteries and refit the lock
    • Note: If the lock was previously managed with the KL1550 Smart App, it may be necessary to reset the lock in order to continue managing it with the App.
  • Lost Code Procedure
    • Refer to lock reset process

Lock Settings

It is recommended that the default factory set Master Code, 11223344, is changed. Please note that once changed, you will need to substitute your own Master Code shown in the examples.

  • Change the Master Code

  • Set or Change the Sub-Master Code

  • Delete the Sub-Master Code

  • Disable/Enable Sounder

    • Result: The sounder is disabled. To enable, repeat the above program.
  • Set Date & Time
    • Note: This command should be run to initially set the date and time of the lock for any requirements that involve auto-open times. If you have already initialised your lock via the KL1550 Smart App, this command should not be run.
    • Note: If Daylight Savings Time is in operation when you set-up the lock, the date/time entered should NOT include DST. For example: In the UK, if you set-up the lock on 30/07/2015 (July 7th) at 10:00, because DST is in operation, the time entered below should be 09:00 (i.e. without DST included).

    • Result: The date and time of the lock is set to 28/01/2015 12:15 with an ID of 123456. If your location uses Daylight Savings Time, you should now set the DST settings (see below).
  • Update Lock Date/Time
    • Note: This command should only be run if the lock is being used with the KL1550 Smart App

    • Result: The date/time on the lock has been set to 22/05/2015 13:01. The lock is 8 hours ahead of UTC
    • Note: Behind/Ahead of UTC – allowed values: 1 = Behind UTC; 2 = Ahead of UTC
    • Note: UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. UTC is a successor to what is also commonly know as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). UTC is the base time of the United Kingdom from the end of October to the end of March.
  • Set Daylight Savings Time
    • Note: This command should only be run if the lock is being used with the KL1550 Smart App or if a timed program is running such as auto-open in public mode. When daylight savings time is applied, the internal clock will be forwarded by 1 hour.

Private Use Functions

Private Use Function is enabled by default and allows up to 20 User Codes. The Smartcard feature when enabled allows up to 50 User Cards to be registered.

  • Select Lock Mode
    • Note: This program should only be used when the lock is not being used with the KL1550 Smart App otherwise you may lose NFC connectivity.
    • Note: Available Private Use Feature IDs: 1 – Private; 2 - Public, 3 – Smart card (Private); 5 – Smart card or Keypad (Private)

    • Result: The lock has been set to Public mode
  • Set or Change the User Code
    • #Master Code  03  User Code ID  User Code ••

    • Result: New User Code 1455 has been added to position 01
  • Suspend an Individual User Code
    • #Master Code  04  User Code ID ••
    • Example: #11223344  04  01 ••
    • Result: The User Code at position 01 is now suspended. If that code is used, the lock will remain locked but the red and blue LEDs will flash together after code entry.
  • Restore an Individual User Code

    • Result: The User Code at position 01 is restored.
  • Suspend all User Codes
    • #Master Code  06 ••
    • Example: #11223344  06 ••
    • Result: All User Codes have been suspended. The will remain locked but the red and blue LEDs will flash together after code entry.
  • Restore all User Codes

    • Result: All User Codes have been restored.
  • Set Dual Code Mode

    • Result: Two valid codes are required to open the lock. The codes can be either two User Codes or one User Code + the Sub-Master Code.
    • Note: The Master Code can continue to be used to open the lock.
  • Cancel Dual Code Mode

    • Result: The lock will revert to requiring a single code to open the lock.
  • [Smart Card] Register a User Smart Card
    • #Master Code  31  31 ••• (red LED solid for 10 seconds)
    • Example: #11223344  31  31••
    • Result: A solid red LED will be shown. Touch one or more cards to the lock. Each Smart Card will be added as a User Smart Card. Successful registration will be indicated by two beeps and the blue LED will flash twice.
  • [Smart Card] Delete a User Smart Card
    • #Master Code  32  Position ID ••
    • Example: #11223344  32  05 ••
    • Result: The User Smart Card stored in position 05 will be deleted. To use the same Smart Card again, it must be re-registered.
  • [Smart Card] Delete all User Smart Cards
    • #Master Code  32  00 ••

    • Result: All User Smart Cards will be deleted.
  • [Smart Card] Register a Supervisor Smart Card
    • #Master Code  33  33 ••• (red LED solid for 10 seconds)
    • Example: #11223344  33  33 •••
    • Result: A solid red LED will be shown. Touch a card to the lock. The Smart Card will be added as the Supervisor Smart Card. The Supervisor Smart Card acts in the same way as a User Smart Card but will not be deleted if program 32 is run.

Public Use Functions

Smartcards can be enabled in addition to the keypad. By default, the lock is unlocked. A user enters a personal User Code or touches their MIFARE(r) based User Card to the KL1550 to lock the lock. The same User Code or Card is used to unlock the lock, ready for use by another user.

  • Select Lock Mode
    • Note: This program should only be used when the lock is not being used with the KL1550 Smart App otherwise you may lose NFC connectivity.
    • Note: Available Public Use Feature IDs: 2 – Public; 4 – Smart card or Keypad (Public)
    • #Master Code  02  mode  mode ••

    • Result: The lock has been set into Keypad Public mode
  • Set the Technician Code

    • Result: The Technician Code 555555 is now active.
  • Delete the Technician Code
    • #Master Code  11  11 ••
    • Example: #11223344  11  11 ••
    • Result: The Technician Code has been deleted.
  • Restrict the Locked Time

    • Result: After 4 hours of being locked, the User Code will automatically be erased. The Sub-Master or Master Code will be required to open the lock.
    • Note: Available locked periods (in hours) are: 00, 02, 04, 06, 08, 10, 12 or 24
    • Note: To end the locked time restriction: #Master Code  14  00 ••
  • Set Auto Open Time
    • #Master Code • 16  HH  mm ••
    • Example: #11223344  16  19  15 ••
    • Result: The lock will open every day at 19:15 and remain unlocked until a new code is entered.
  • Cancel Auto Open Time
    • #Master Code  17  17 ••
    • Example: #11223344  17  17 ••
    • Result: Auto-open time is cancelled.
  • Red LED Locked Status
    • #Master Code  19  19 ••

    • Result: When locked in public mode, the red LED no longer flash every 5 seconds.
    • Note: To re-enable the red LED locked indicator, repeat the above program.
  • Double Code Entry

    • To enable double code entry (i.e. the user must enter their code twice to lock the lock):

    • Result: Double code entry is enabled – the user must enter their code twice to lock the lock.
    • To disable double code entry:

    • Result: Double code entry is disabled – the user will not need to repeat their code to lock the lock.
  • Restrict the Locked Time

    • Result: A solid red LED will be shown. Touch a card to the lock. Program 39 can be used to control the behaviour of the Technician Smart Card. Two behaviour options are available: Technician Smart Card opens lock and erases any public mode code or smart card OR Technician Code opens lock and does not erase any public mode User Code or User Smart Card.
  • [Smart Card] Delete the Technician Smart Card (Smart Card public mode only)

  • Technician Code/Smart Card Behaviour (Public modes only)
    • Note: This program applies to ALL public modes (keypad and smart card)

    • Result: When a Technician Code or Smart Card is used, the in-use User Code or Smart Card will not be deleted. This is the default setting.
    • Note: To change the behaviour of the Technician Code or Smart Card to delete the in-use User Code or Smart Card, set the behaviour type to 1.

    • Result: When a Technician Code or Smart Card is used, the in-use User Code or Smart Card will be deleted.

NetCode Functions

NetCode allows temporary access to lockers and cabinets via the web-based NetCode Portal. The KL1550 Smart can be enabled for NetCode via the tablet (sold separately) or NetCode Portal. When used without the KL1550 Smart App, NetCode should only be set-up following the prompts provided by the NetCode Portal.

TECHNICIAN CODE PROGRAMS

  • Open the Lock (Keypad public modes only)

    • Technician Code 
    • Example: 555555 
    • Result: The lock will open.
    • Note: Program 39 can be used to control the behaviour of the Technician Code. Two behaviour options are available: Technician Code opens lock and erases any public mode User Code or User Smart Card OR Technician Code opens lock and does not erase any public mode User Code or User Smart Card

RESET THE LOCK

  1. Remove 1 battery
  2. Press and hold the 0 button
  3. Replace the battery
  4. Within 3 seconds, press # * # (hash – star – hash)
  5. A solid blue LED will show, followed by a short single flash. All settings will be reverted to factory settings.
    • The Master Code will be 11223344
    • The lock will be in Keypad Private mode
    • There will be a single User Code of 1234
