CL Series - REM Ports

Notice: The C3 Smart App replaced the K3 Connect App on February 14, 2023. For more information on how to download, set up and use C3 Smart with your Codelocks Smart Locks, visit: c3smart.net or contact Codelocks Support.

Overview

The REM ports are digital input/outputs; which work via a HIGH/LOW state change either being detected by the lock or the lock providing the  state change for something else (alarm panel/CCTV) to detect depending on the configuration of the ports.

Auxiliary Connections

Codelocks Smart Locks include two auxiliary connectors (REM Ports). Traditional behaviour of these ports allows reception desk remote opening (REM 1) and alarm panel trigger to open (REM 2).  The REM behaviour also enables the lock administrator to select between four different modes of  operation in the C3 Smart App; Remote Release, Sensor Mode, Sensor + Alert and Unlock + Lock Down.

Modes of Operation

Default Remote Release (INPUT, INPUT)

REM1 is intended for push-button release where the lock will open for the normal set time. REM2 is intended for use where the lock needs to be released for a longer period. When a switch or relay connected to REM2 is closed, the lock will open for 30 minutes after which the  lock will revert to normal operation.
  1. REM 1 can be connected to a push button – and will provide an audit entry into the Locks Audit trail as well as opening the lock. Here the  REM port itself would be an INPUT and would detect the HIGH/LOW state change, and when detected would carry out the programmed function -> in this case adding an audit entry to the Lock’s Audit trail, and unlocking the lock. In a rest state (of the sensor) the REM port would detect the LOW / REST state; and then once the push button is activated; then the push button would change to a HIGH / ALARM state which the Lock will detect.
  2. REM 2 can be connected to a push button – and will provide an audit entry into the Locks Audit trail as well as opening the lock.

Sensor Mode (INPUT, INPUT)

Allows two dry contact switches or sensors (door status and latch monitoring) to be connected. Trigger entry will be added to the audit trail.

  1. REM 1 can be connected to a sensor – and will provide an audit entry into the Locks Audit trail. Here the REM port itself would be an INPUT and would detect the HIGH/LOW state change, and when  detected would carry out the programmed function -> in this case adding an  audit entry to the Lock’s Audit trail. In a rest state (of the sensor) the REM port would detect the LOW / REST state; and then once the sensor is activated; then the sensor would change to a HIGH / ALARM state which the Lock will detect.
  2. REM 2 can also be connected to a sensor – and will provide an audit entry into the Locks Audit trail.

Sensor + Alert (INPUT, OUTPUT)

A hybrid mode combining the support for a single dry contact switch or sensor (as per sensor mode) and an output. The output can be connected  to any compatible device, such as CCTV, with an input that supports the detection of a falling (changing) voltage.

  2. REM 2 would be used to trigger the CCTV. The CCTV solution being used would need to be able to detect a HIGH/LOW state change  via an input. The REM port on the lock side would be acting as an OUTPUT. In the LOW / REST state the CCTV would not be triggered and then when the door is opened/unlocked the lock will provide the state change to a HIGH / ALARM state which the CCTV system will need to detect and then be programmed to enable recording.

Unlock + Lock Down (INPUT, INPUT)

Support the connection of two dry contact switches. Connected to REM 1, the switch will unlock the lock for the period set by the standard re-lock  delay. Connected to REM2, the switch would trigger the lock-down mode of the lock where on the Master and Sub-Master Code can be used for entry.
  2. REM 2 can be connected to a push button or any other device providing a state change output to the lock input – and will provide an audit  entry into the Locks Audit trail as well as opening the lock. Here the REM port itself would be an INPUT and would detect the HIGH/LOW state change, and when detected would carry out the programmed function -> in this case putting the lock into lock-down mode. In a rest state (of the sensor) the REM port would detect the LOW / REST state; and then once the push button is activated; then the push button would change to a HIGH / ALARM state which the Lock will detect.
